Author name: Ken Cruickshank

One of my favorite authors, Ken Follett, believes prospective novelists must have a keen imagination, be stubborn, and possess technical writing skills. I was born with the first two traits and work tirelessly to master the third. MS and an accident put me in a wheelchair during my tech career, but I discovered my passion for writing, and here I am. My goals are to write unique and consuming fiction, thrillers, historical fiction, and nonfiction. Eagle Bay, my debut psychological thriller, was released on June 1, 2023. The Emerald Cross, a thriller pitting an ex-Green Beret hero against a Mexican drug lord, is scheduled for release on November 1, 2023. I published my memoir: Stand Up, a memoir of disease, family, faith & hope in 2018.

Mine is a writer’s life: The Emerald Cross!

My second novel, The Emerald Cross, launched yesterday! Paperback, hardcover, and e-book versions are available through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or other retailers. I will not lie; this getting-books-ready-for-launch routine is beyond taxing, mentally and physically. But I thoroughly enjoy writing stories, so the process of creating, marketing, and distributing them digitally and physically is

Mine is a writer’s life: More SoCal sunshine and launch prep!

We spent two weeks in Southern California visiting relatives, with special attention given to our son and daughter-in-law and extra special devotion to our granddaughter, Princess Charlotte, who brings immense joy to many. Attached are a few photos taken during walks in the neighborhood where we stayed. It’s a slice of heaven. We left warm

Mine is a writer’s life: California Dreamin and a book note…

The attached photos offer glimpses of our courtyard bench and entry to my wife’s art studio. They are simple items that put me in a good mood. It’s important to smell the roses on our life journeys, right? These are some of my Sonoran Desert roses! I am pleased with the number of paperback and

Mine is a writer’s life: Family and the trials of editing!

Yes, I’ve been known to say, perhaps ad nauseum: It’s All about Family. I’m one of ten children (dear God, what were you thinking, Mom and Dad?) with six of my own: a son, two daughters, two sons- and one daughter-in-law, and a perennial wife/mother of the year. Oh, and the most entertaining and popular

Mine is a writer’s life: 40th anniversary and yet another rewrite!

My wife and I spent four wonderful days in Sedona, Arizona, to celebrate 40 years of marriage. It seems like it has all flown by until I dissect the events highlighting our four decades together. I think it was supposed to have been more difficult than it was and is. That’s all due to the

Mine is a writer’s life: Lake Geneva and rock ‘n’ roll!

Before my amazing wife somehow took the bait and entered my realm, she was a concertgoer at the famous Alpine Valley outdoor venue, forty-five minutes from Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, where she spent summers and hung out with her besties. Lake Geneva is a magical place, and I’m jealous of anyone who gets to spend extended

Mine is a writer’s life: Proof copies of The Emerald Cross arrived!

After a busy week visiting Princess Charlotte and her parents in Southern California, I am frantically preparing for the June 14 launch of The Emerald Cross while writing Doheny Drive and squeezing in some reading (I just finished All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr). I received the Amazon Not for Resale author

Mine is a writer’s life: Taco Tuesday at Blackstone, continued preparations for releasing The Emerald Cross

Not a bad view for Taco Tuesday, right? The Emerald Cross will be officially released on June 14. If you love cartel and military thrillers – or simply thrillers – you should enjoy the read. A glimpse of an entertaining family dynamic: “It’s a life we earned, Ashley! We’ve worked our butts off for everything

Mine is a writer’s life: Frank Lloyd Wright & Book Reviews

I always wanted to visit Taliesin West before I ended up in this damn chair. Wheelchairs are a disallowed mode of transportation on the site, with good reason (too rocky and uneven). I was thrilled that my wife and her childhood friend drove from the northwest side of the Valley of the Sun (metro Phoenix)
