As Eagle Bay enters the home stretch for publication, I feel the need for one final read-through from a person not named Ken Cruickshank. Enter my Strategic Reader: Karen Cruickshank. Her contributions have been critical to improving the psychological thriller in many ways – more dimensional characters, better tension, and improved readability. I really am a lucky dog, as she not only caters to the unique daily challenges of an MS-afflicted husband, but she’s always up for reading my evolving manuscripts. Of course, she thinks I’m the modern Robert Louis Stevenson; and yes, she might hold a slightly biased perspective. If my books ever reach a truly broad audience, she will be an essential reason for that happening.
So Eagle Bay is inching toward its launchpad for February 2023 take-off. I will send a synopsis of my second thriller, The Emerald Cross, to Christine at The Book Cover Whisperer in the first week of January. She did such a great job with Eagle Bay that I can’t wait to see what she creates for The Emerald Cross. For readers of thrillers, know that, just as the ending of Eagle Bay has been unguessable to date, The Emerald Cross will similarly surprise! I hope to launch this second thriller by April 2023 – perhaps even sooner!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to anyone reading this. Life can be challenging, extraordinarily so at times, but we all have blessings in our lives. Just look around at your friends and family and reflect, and you’ll rediscover that truth.
Cheers from the Sonoran Desert,
Author Ken Cruickshank
