My wife and I spent Thanksgiving dinner in our backyard on a beautiful Arizona day, just the two of us. She insisted on making a full turkey, dressing, potatoes and gravy fest. It tasted incredible, and we ate like kings and queens for the next three days. Our children are scattered all across the country and spent Thanksgiving with their spouses’ families. We get all of them for Christmas and can’t wait to be together. Most people gather with family or friends for the holidays, but for others, I suspect that doesn’t happen, which is sad. Some people are really good about doing what they can to brighten someone’s day during the holidays, and cheers to them.
Raise your hand if you’ve been busy! It’s that wonderful time of the year between Thanksgiving and Christmas that puts smiles on faces and stirs hopes for the future. But we too often wear ourselves out by pushing the pedal to the metal and keeping it stuck there. Life is always a tricky balance of what could be done with what must be done, but that’s especially true during the holidays. Try to remember to smell the roses! One of my favorite observations during this season of giving and family is watching children’s faces light up because there’s simply too much wonder and excitement for their developing minds and big eyes to handle! Doesn’t it seem like just yesterday we were those little people?
