Just because I haven’t posted for a while doesn’t mean I’m not busy. I made a huge decision to rewrite The Emerald Cross in first person versus third. If that sounds simple enough, it’s not – as I discovered. But I’m extremely pleased with how presenting the story in first person significantly improves pace and, importantly for any cartel-military thriller, turns action scenes into heart-pounding reads.
I am pleased with the first two editorial reviews for The Emerald Cross from BookLife and Readers’ Favorite. Fingers crossed for more of the same. I wish I had delivered the current streamlined first-person manuscript to those reviewers, but that ship has sailed!

My wife and I enjoyed some time in Tucson with a neighbor and her generous family. That town is growing on me. I realize my fellow ASU graduates will scorn me on social media for saying that. While there, we visited the Pima Air and Space Museum. The highlight was standing next to a B-24 Liberator, the plane my father piloted in the South Pacific during World War II. My eyes misted as I watched real footage of formations of B-24s during bombing missions, with planes getting blown out of the sky. Dad was only twenty when he and his crew dropped bombs on the bad guys. Twenty! Most young people are totally disconnected from the sacrifices made by that generation to save the world from tyranny. Sad.
