I write and edit every day and can honestly say I thoroughly relish the process! That includes editing, even if author friends challenge my zeal! If I can fix or improve a single sentence, then it was an effort well spent. I hope I never lose that passion for creating stories and improving manuscripts – I don’t think I will. That said, sometimes we need to lay down our pens (though, if you have followed along, you know I can’t physically write, so pens and pencils are moot!), clear our heads, and visit beautiful granddaughters! We just did that for twelve days; my wife and I hung out with Princess Charlotte in Orange County. During the hurricane event! The photos in this feed were taken from my brother’s house, where we stayed. Beautiful vistas, right? Clearly, the hurricane hadn’t arrived yet. Anyway, Charlotte brings so much joy to her parents, grandparents, and extended family. We are back in Arizona, which is good news for my writing (I can’t write during road trips), but man, I already miss that little creature. The good news: We get to see her in several weeks in Austin, Texas, as our second daughter and third child, Bre, marries her knight in shining armor – Chet. Can’t wait for the celebration!
So, it is impossible for me not to endlessly edit anything I have ever written or will write in the future. That’s just the way it is. So it was no surprise when, after telling people The Emerald Cross was print-ready, I began another read-through, which inevitably led to some editing. It’s a sickness, I tell ya! That time editing was enough to force me to push back a couple of scheduled items. Hence, the new release date for The Emerald Cross will be moved from November 1, 2023, to December 1. And the new novel I’ve been “scribing” (working title Doheny Drive), will be finished in late October (written, not published).
